MOKITA – How to Navigate Perimenopause

MOKITA – How to Navigate Perimenopause

October is World Menopause month and to bring more awareness and open the conversation, we are highlighting some menopause issues and topics. Menopause or perimenopause is a topic that I do not remember my mom talking about. Menopause was just something that women knew happened to them but didn’t say much about it. Many just suffered through never really connecting the dots to how they were feeling and how their bodies were changing. Today things are changing and the conversation is becoming more common. Thanks to the book, MOKITA – How to Navigate Perimenopause with Confidence and Ease.

I first heard of this book through a Facebook Group – Menopause Chicks. Menopause Chicks was started in 2016 by Shirley Weir. This book is an amazing resource the blossomed from the online community. An online community that now averages over 15, 000 questions and comments every month.

For me this warmth almosts give me a sense of nausea. Just breath, I say. For some women it is so intense that they are waking up feeling like they are in a puddle of water and soaking wet pyjamas. For all these symptoms of perimenopause and menopause are all different but in some ways the same.

What were your thoughts or knowledge of Menopause?

You may think I am a little obsessed (well I might be) with it but hormone balance is really important. And why not let other women know they are not alone in the struggle. I struggle with it. Balancing all the hormones is a daily grind.

When we think of women in peri-menopause and menopause, we always think of estrogen levels first.

But today I am going to chat about women and why we need testosterone. I know we think of testosterone as a male hormone, but ladies produce it and need it too. And it was really never on my radar until I had my hormones checked. I didn’t have abnormal hair growth, deep voice or irregular periods. But testosterone imbalance can produce other symptoms.
